The History:

A work that started in March of 2004, Pakiam began with helping 3 children from Ipoh.

When she increased to 7 children, the welfare department brought a parent who had a child with Down Syndrome to help her.

               

  

In 2007 a Society was formed, Persutum Kebajikan Sinar Ceria and an application was made to the City Council (MPSP) in October 2009.

In 2009, they moved into their present location, a former Kindergarten program contained in two adjoining homes, where they now have housing for the children, office space, kitchen and storeroom and adult housing. They have 3 paid staff and 2 volunteers who assist.

                                                       

                                                      

The children have a yard to play in, as well as plenty of space for their studies and leisure time. Each child attends public school; primary in a Tamil school and secondary in a Malay school. They receive financial assistance from community friends and organizations to assist with the transportation fees, rent, food and other needs. In November 2010, a license was obtained from the MPSP (City Council).
